So, I substituted for the "Teacher of the Year" for 2015 in this state, and I knew that because she left her embossed glass on the desk, among the rush baskets for Post-its and pens, a crucifix on the wall among pictures of her daughters, with "You can't fix stupid" to complete the desk's one-frame satires about "Raising the Bar on Public Education."

My first question was, are they going to cheat with the State-administered laptops for assessing the "kids" in desks this closely packed, and that inquiry was shut down immediately. Don't. I think the career teacher called-in today because she did not want to be present while they took the Civics exam, or a 20-question multiple guess prolonged by many reboots, dying batteries, and trips to the restroom. Sadly, they did anything to forestall a validation of their failure. The administrators peeped in several times to scream and issue threats.

It made me sad because the pedestrian work left to pass the time for six hours was hopelessly difficult for most, who are minority adolescent boys. The children of the Captains of Industry, all in one section, the Honors class, were already dressed in their alma maters. I will do it again some time because there were some talented young men, who were starved for attention, demonstrating their card tricks and various other proficiencies.

Life is very hostile to family formation. I am using the next year approaching 40 to consolidate and streamline financially, spiritually...I saw my mother at breakfast, and of course she was stricken, so I listened, and went home.
