XVIII. Laisser brûler la lumière

XVIII. Laisser brûler la lumière

Awake at night, with this indeterminate repeat bar-line expending
From its base, the hottest blue halo of canary smoke and comb—The earth's
Orange in a burnt-brick oasis stained a sacred forked tongue of the water table—Yves Klein’s
IKB spraycoat on a single piece of plywood, whose duplicate l'enveloppe Soleau;
Red-inked for recovery, n° 63 471 is ultramarine shown through its red spatter shield
Of keratin—Ultraviolet induced, brought into the rod-lit color of moonshine—Nitric oxide

Disperses; not by that radicalized protuberance of vanishing incandescence—Nitric oxide,
Endothelium and nerve-derived relaxing factor, is sunburnt into the bored cuticle expending
Half-second exposures; lapping the compression down, returning us to the medium, the shield—
Stretcher braces of nonexistent newsprint (1958), the smote brilliancy of Gihon’s gouged earth
Churned by outboard engines—Blue of our unbent positions; without torpor, Yves Klein’s
Uninhibited monochromes in Rhodopas polyvinyl, the deposit of design in a Soleau envelope

May 1960; pending microgravity, where complete combustion occurs—A Soleau envelope’s
Perforated numbers to be opened in time as Schultze’s tinctured legume (1886), lupin’s nitric oxide
Precursor—L-arginine is synthase-adapted dilating associated vessels of smooth muscle—Yves Klein’s
Monochrome Symphony (1949) perfused Cointreau with methylene blue; nitric oxide expending
The voiding spectators; the bladder as a site lacking acetylcholine’s excitatory sockets, for shields
Of paper hollowed by the body’s blazon—Anthropométries, for us and the lizard’s enzymatic repertoire of cooling earth

Glanced on by temperature, by rhodopsin, a thermosensor—Night-vision stimulated by the Earth’s
Seeming interior, of a bedroom according to Goethe (1810) retires from us—Le système Soleau
Conveys nothing about the forced steam’s application of gum, nor of a bleak Chelsea Hotel evening's judoka shield
Carbonized through the Sun’s blackbody map—A heated body’s 15 electrons of nitric oxide,
Each net magnetic moment with a cell unwound in your dermal layer’s two cubic meters; Klein
Indicates this with a gas flame (1961)—Only gases burn as vaporized dry pigment, synthetic resin on a panel expend

The body’s atmospheres; gingerly; its carotenoids and ultraviolet buffer—A circuit re-expended
Upon conversion to retinol—Retinal, sure in the conjugated double bonds of rhodopsin, the earth’s
Dilatory moonlight miles are once again illuminated—Flecks of alluvial gold, as if to serve as a reminder, Klein
Sets down the ultramarine with flocked rollers—Eluard’s J’écris ton nom, twenty times before the Soleau envelope
Sovereign in its confinement of a municipal building for nominal sum—An Achilles’s shield
Arbitrating the principals achieved in solitude as low-level inflammation, the indices of nitric oxide

Submitted to a full-thickness rupture, perceived or imagined—Sunlight and the multifunctional roles of nitric oxide
Decline the further I attend to the derelict wellspring below Le Saut dans le vide (1960), or the science building now expended
At Fontenay-aux-Roses—When the jumper’s smile assigns a resilient, blown flame of free fall, of deshielded
Fires catching for a second time, of our first discoveries, where the spectral blue of moonlit earth,
Relieved of its emptiness, projects the drive only inches up the road—Air is the oxidant adjoining Yves Klein’s
Blue ground by Union Carbide—Wolfgang Laib’s tiled beeswax to body heat by an exposed bulb (2013), with the Soleau

Wrapper warming into what would be plasma—Posited for a Soleau envelope and nitric oxide’s
Expansion, the mafic shield volcano of an island, of the Moon—Our earthly asylum of Cinzano

Tav in תְשׁוּבָה (teshuva) is the answer after the letter ש (shin), which expresses שְׁאֵלָה (she’ela) the question.

“‘Don’t say that. I know a good bit about you. I used to work with the Vagabonds. I went backstage and got the low-down on you. The legal mind at work. I tried to call you for a date three or four times after that, but I got discouraged. You were never home, and—”

—Herman Wouk’s Marjorie Morgenstern (1955)

*I think it will be in the epistolary mode from Marjorie to Milton.

The album cover's canine dental plaque notwithstanding, there is a Roland Juno-60 analog synthesizer here. It made me think of a healing letter I should write for Elul.

I have read various reviews about Marjorie that parents would not let their daughters read this novel. My reaction to the alcohol and Chinese-food lubricated afterthought with Noel Airman is that it was sad to be treated like that, like nothing, like a joke.

It would be corrective to a younger woman's sensibilities with lead-up to a crush, and he didn't really care about you.

Milton was the man she married, and that takes work, too.
