V. Qui se passe [il suffit de s'oursifier]

V. Qui se passe [il suffit de s'oursifier]

Anyway, the old guy’s psychological sorcery had no effect on Benn. It simply didn’t take. Benn thought of himself as the weary, wayworn wanderer in the Poe poem. That was his hang-up. Matilda wanted to be a tough broad in the brokerage world but also comfortably married to a respected professor, living in style at the Roanoke, where (a lady with fluent, current French) she could have something approaching a salon even in a vulgar town like this.  Lastly, she had made a cult of deep sleep, and for that the Roanoke was the perfect setting.

That will set the orbit, define our limits again. –Saul Bellow’s More Die of Heartbreak (1987)

Sartre's epigraph to Simone de Beauvoir's Le Dieuxième Sexe (1949)—à moitié victime, à moitié complice, comme tout le monde.

Benn: Hunched over your knees in your faux animal pelts, for contact comfort, in the grey airport, you looked up at me, and wept—Having flown non-stop from the stinking beach of Ipanema, from Galeão to Fairbanks airports, now with its mounted grizzly in the main terminal—Conscious of the anachronism, and the incongruity of the Layamons of the West Midlands—You decomposed your alar shoulder blades as Oetzi, whose stomach yields the last bites of blackthorn fruit and chamois bobbing head up in the glacier (1991), the Beau lines of starvation, perhaps the wry lips that birch pollen allergy reddened, found with dried birch polypore plaster tucked in a roebuck quiver and complete with bear
Trimmed hat—Zinc tolerance of Arabidopsis, winter thale cress at the high altitudes of the dolomites, domino
Of the Tyrol Schistose Alps, after Déodat de Dolomieu, freed by the negotiation of terms of Marengo (15 June 1800)—After the Swiss photosynthesist who demonstrated gas equivalences of carbon dioxide for oxygen, de Saussure (1804)—Shortening our pace into eternity with market research bleeding pedantry into all subjects—Eberhard’s Pink Pearl, the finished latex caoutchouc Dr. Priestley calls rubber, and pink sourced from phlegrant Bagnoli–Fuorigrotta Plain that stoppers leaded pencils and prototypes of the screenwriter’s Blackwing 602, with half the pressure, twice the speed—Provenance of the ash eraser commemorated by Vija Celmins’s replica in balsa wood (1967), which could be from the same area as the Aeneid pleases you exceedingly—As Fannie Farmer’s christening of Baked Alaska (1896), which is indebted to Thompson’s work on egg white’s flame resistance—Reading about the hazards of Pseudomonas biofilms, the risk of cross-contamination between colonoscopies, and assay for the bacterial metabolite and potential phenazine
Dye detector ensuring asepsis between cases—The Charles Addams model home taken down to the studs by the thirty-something daughter, a fixture of the parental home—Augmented virtual reality, the varied hats with on-demand saw cleaver and one-handed blunderbuss of some vampiric Querelle or Lord Jim alter-ego dialed into body types ranging from milquetoast to a waste of skin as the cast from Bloodborne (2015)—Regressing to the console of youth and the unmentionable brother—Degrees of aforementioned fire paper coating the hand in 60 seconds against the blood boss and lupine, antlered wraith Vicar Amelia–There were the questionable low-serum B12 titers unexplained by normal intrinsic factor; nevertheless, fed by urges for dry aged ribeye, cooked saignant, and like Dr. Johnson’s feeling of friendship comfortably filled with roast beef; love for the enlightenment of champagne

Matilda: C4 carbon dioxide fixation produces rapid growth in the grasses, with exceptions being the mauve-petalled and persistent North American invasive, Paulownia, the kiri of the office of the Japanese prime minister, a tree whose timber’s high silica content deforms the axe; looking across from me, I should add that it is felled prior to marriage for an airtight trousseau chest—Regard the Rabbit style lever corkscrew instead of those barbaric gestures of sabering the champagne
Neck—No concern for the rarified cuvée of Heidsiek or Juglar enjoyed at table and among colleagues, and the home life's cartoon collection of Addams’s Black Maria: A Family Album (1960) captioned so each found himself Merrills's terminal lines of that villanelle The whole of love / Falls on the child awake and wearied of (1959)—Withdrawn to pursue la nuda vita after Agamben’s bare life (1995); rather, a prey animal browsing for butterfly larva with a Perspex among the park's bear
Garlic and bluebells, now that work and school are called off by disruptions of modern tastes for exotic sweetmeats and animistic cures hocked from third-world stalls—Careless, the centimeters of water seeping beneath the snowpack, these feminine peculiarities valued, and are the mark of the unscrupulous contractor exaggerating the return on investment of stone masonry veneers—This caste of female takes to volunteer nursing on the Spadina field hospital during the Spanish flu, she takes George P. Putnam (1931), who married into the Binney & Smith Easton empire of slate pencils and black-walled tires, the blockbuster by proposing a Rubens 500 range (1903) for the Raphael assortment for porte-crayon—Future aviator, Amelia
Sometime shilling ladies separates at Marshall Field’s (1934)—Convening the poetic styles of Ariel and Prospero in The Dyer’s Hand (1916), if to echo Dr. Johnson’s pragmatism for reading the work, to better endure it—Frost’s Axe-Helve (1917) is a work of Prospero, whose speaker is first ensnared by an old-growth alder thicket and cover for woodcocks, at the basis whose Frankia nitrogen-fixing root nodules pioneer glacial tills and watercourses for lucerne, clover and other fodder crops, and when he is put upon by a rustic, a demonstration of the poll properly hung on the hand carved and waved length of axe handle, on it alternately sits as a snake, attaint by the suggestion of Eve—Domino
Effect of education, with nothing fit to congratulate—To the collaborators of the Occupation, most of which were women, not above some subterranean anti-Semitism to give their children the advantage,  and then such a project is henceforward abandoned—Thrown upon signs, the structure to activity relationship conferring the antimicrobial bioactivity of phenazine-1-carboxylic acid (PCA)
By an amide jam of the binding site (rNTP) blocking RNA transcription for the cell wall synthesis of Gram positives such as Staph aureus—Signifier and signified at the micro-level, and all over the body, as they later turned out to be, by examination of Dr. Johnson’s dictionary, bowing to the compiler’s skepticism marked by zero entries for “X” (15 April 1755)—What then, of the precedence of the signified in copies after Ferdinand de Saussure (d. 1913)—

Benn: And the plunder in the spliced bacterial servants turning out the product(s) of interest—Present company excepted, the ladies to Johnson’s popularization, of many a helpmate and termagant, with aims to fund hand-blocked wall finishings, and only then, to endow a hospital wing—Countering Saussure’s
Signification to Peirce’s third, the interpretant—With a working knowledge of female poetics; consigned to the children’s table, to use your words, to cite Susan Howe’s Pierce-Arrow (1998) that made more of her microform process in the basements of the Ivies than meaning of the ruinous affair of Juliette Peirce, who threw $2000 of her husband’s inheritance into Arisbe, their Miletus in Milford (1887)—Champagne,
To drink to them, among the water-drinkers as Samuel Johnson—While exhaustive, the usage elides over Socrates’s wife, Xanthippe, and modernity’s unforeseeable xanthine derivatives, caffeine, theobromine and methylbromine, the caffeine, chocolate and tea, without which we could not live—Botany is rich in x-words; the hydrostatic network, xylem, and xylan the birchwood biopolymer, a polysaccharide perfected with fluorine substituents for PTFE, known as Teflon (1938)—Finished cellulose of reams for mono inkjets from the brainchild of Xerox PARC (1970)—Daniel Glück who suggested his brother-in-law’s X-Acto knife for hobbyists, and whose laureate daughter, Louise Glück enlists Vija Celmins for the anthology cover, a 1985 mezzotint of Saturn, a symbolic home planet, and the sign of Sontag’s essays, time, the medium of constraint, inadequacy, repetition, and mere fulfillment (2013)—Pseudomonas species produce pyocyanin, a phenazine
Together, with iron-binding pyoverdine, a green-blue biofilm colonizing wounds and tracheostomies best treated with ciprofloxacin, receiving FDA approval in 1987, and still the most effective monotherapy, aerosolized or oral—Microbes; his coinage, and their causal link with post-operative infections were first articulated by Sédillot by the slough of beryl drainage on dressings (1850s)—The bacterial virulence based on this aptitude for iron scavenging siderophores, which sequester free iron for erythrocytes, effectively starving them—Compared to the immune conflagration to erysipelas, where Chekhov observed to Suvorin, the growth of malignant tumors is temporarily checked (1890)—On suspicion he had been harboring the tuberculin bacilli, Chekhov went to Sakhalin to conduct a census, and perhaps this shrugging off of despair with action is foreshadowed by the farce-vaudeville, The Bear (1888) that culminates in a duel with an indebted widow, and allusions to the military caste brought to the capital for preferment—Luka, the footman, points out to his mistress that the invitations will appear less and less, and the opportunities for a husband at dances, knowing not whether it is Peterhof or Versailles at a court ball in domino
Cloak and mask—Elena Popova offstage meets Smirnov in the garden, which would have been the preoccupation, as it is ours in quarantine three-abreast in grocery aisles, as it would be for a hostess in another life, Amelia

Matilda: Alternately, the final transmission’s one-half hour fuel and no landfall, and I think about you, no less with the makings of the Sun, as the one-time vegetal sprite Ariel concludes in The Planet on the Table (1953); however, awkwardly, to land, and once again, to bear living—Had Amelia
Stayed in Atchison, the days at premed Columbia and the sale of the first plane for the Yellow Peril (1923) to the initial westward flight from Oakland (21 May 1937), she would not have ended scattered among the poorly mapped Marshall Islands depositing a compact mirror and a solitary finger bone on Nikumaroro seamount (2019), then Gardner Island—The fireside inquisition before father founded the progressive education of Adrienne Necker de Saussure
Spouse of Jacques Necker, nephew of the botanist and banker to Louis XVI (1771-1790) credited with streamlining and abolishing sinecures, indemnities and serfdom, and issuing inflationary fiat money as assignats –On the other side of the Pacific, after Louise Bogan’s Zone (1940), simultaneous regions wherein we are keel or reef, Necker, the Northwestern Hawaiian Island is named for the La Pérouse expedition (1786) benefitting from infusions of livres from the finance minister—Could it have been the the fifth Royal Astronomer Nevil Maskelyne (1765), who enlarges the solar system, and upgrades Herschel’s comet, and thereby equating advancing light years with the sight line of progenitors, to Uranus—Living off the interest, Mrs. Thrale at 35 (1765), Dr. Johnson at 70, as it is implied, Oft in danger, yet alive—A year prior to the publication of Swift’s Letters to Stella (1766), where Esther Johnson, no relation to Samuel Johnson, may have been his wife—One of six aluminum-plaster editions of a dry, upraised quill or Dürer’s praying hands (1508) in poorer materials, Barbara Hepworth, at 55, had wanted for her headstone, Cantate Domino (1958)—
Perseveration and Kronos’s clipped separatists, who were left to the Erinyes and Aphrodite to infringe upon and to dominate, the plaque to rupture and stroke or thromboembolism of the internal jugular veins from long-duration spaceflight coasting on fast radio bursts onto the colony of Vermilion Sands (1971)—Finish of the vines of the pays de la craie, Champagne
Cretaceous marine layers with iron filings or cendres, boué de la ville amendments, and regulated pruning since 1938, and as such, the connoisseur stakes the holograph of Earth, and with simulation redundancy the axe handle reenters the forest—From the nebular hypothesis gleaned from Swedenborg, Laplace’s first volume of Mécanique celeste (1799) resolves the motion of Saturn in relation to its Galilean giant, Jupiter, while in the same city Marie Lenormand’s fashioning her divination cards alongside intimate correspondence to Joséphine, whom she correctly predicts will be Empress—A contemporary of Laplace, Jean Sylvain Bailly reads the situation of the orbits into a generalized notion of anomalies, and transforms them into the systematic study of differentials—Projecting them into masses where his rational right hand is raised and highlighted at the center of David’s sketch of Le Serment du Jeu de paume (15 July 1790), Bailly serves as the first mayor and solves the Commune’s liquidity problems with the seizure of Church assets—From there, much of the Parisian terrain is pouilleuse, flea-bitten, and fractured to incursions of the water table, and the resulting vintage is characterless and waterlogged, which, from the partially methylated dunes are violet with fiber optic UV lights entwined the cultivars of Laguna West, which bear
More resemblance to the epiphytes of the Amazon basin, and the last subject heading of your lecture tour of the interior of Brazil—That is, before you set off for Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park with a Finnish colleague; just to mention this selectivity of focus, priority from human relations, the stocks pare their losses and close in the green, just as the committed materialist stoops in the lead of Anthony Perkins from behind, when the auroras of that season had already arrived—Out of boredom with Haussmann’s avenues, the intellectuals of the time had to go slumming—Inheritors of Valéry’s cooled moonscape, Et puis, nous sommes morts sur le mousse (1892)—Above the Arctic circle, the Oymyakon, Sakha, Greenland and then arriving counter-rotatory to the Chena Lakes of Alaska crouching over surviving lichen ice-encased and erupting into bloom between thaws, and accommodating studies of their antimicrobial activity against Staph aureus as effectively as bacterial phenazines—

Benn: Sunset on the radio spires of Electric City, I recall you threw aside some quarterly of Paula Rego, to see nothing edifying in the actresses paunched, bending on arthritic knees, and somewhere in these domestic settings, their adversaries, which the blinds slice, rise to exaggerate their claims—The home-seeking impulse that sent out to one’s ladies in waiting an admixture of pinke and blew bice to dye velvet green; the Lady, weakening, drinks from an inkwell of iron gall, and pauses before Auden's The glacier knocks in the cupboard,The desert sighs in the bed (1940)—Faulted then, toward frontiers unchallenged by phenazine
Biosynthesis and methanogenesis on extra-terrestrial subsoil, the humanities would be called upon to choose a wallpaper for the crypt, enjoined by an issue of monodies to Amelia
Intoned from the sedan passenger’s seat—It was an underestimation of the tectonic rebound of the poles, which the decades threatened seaboards eventually equilibrate, yet having taken it to heart, to bear
Transport above it, above fireproofing the walls's cotton candy insulation patented by Owens, then later Dow Corning (1943), and be the first company to trademark the color (1987)—Wound in Beta cloth (1961), the self could achieve form in the Apollo Thermal Micrometeroid Garment with Chromel patches whose inner lining was composed of machine spun fiberglass wool braided into a veritable hair shirt, and then coated with Teflon to prevent bristling—The notice board changes according to your moods, our two, three figures triangulating in the pink output of blue and red grow lamps, otherwise the station seedlings would cool to Absolute Zero—Avoidance transcends, sending a signal back to Earth for all its shortcomings; requests for rain and dew, for unifying Esperanto, for one who hopes, and its proponent René de Saussure’s
Decimal currency, the Spesmilo (1907) still honored by Swiss banks—For the few takers, there are pistoned internal pressure-release valves for Mumm’s debut champagne
In space—Lowell and Bishop met in Brazil (1962), where the former mulled over the honest split-pine floor of his cousin’s New England homestead, “Soft Wood” for this sixth book (1964), from where he stood at the base of the buttressed roots of the Mallow family (Malvaceae) wreathed in kapok pods exploded with excelsior, as the cosmetic cotton balls he’d reached for in his many run-ins, holding 36 times its compressed weight in water, gathered for life vests—With this capacity to catch fire erotically, there is diminishing speculation behind preoccupying Woodstock mud orgies, installations of the corrupted body in abstracted shorthand—Burning away the dross of mores, personality, morality with the businessperson’s club with the caged artists pushing for their own degradation called equality, having achieved the last-minute codicils for correctness and technological mechanisms of Augustine’s reformulation of Sallust’s libido dominandi (426 C.E.)

Matilda: Sade’s model for the Republic (1791)—In less than a month, given the consumer’s fatigue with pornography, then the narrative of contagion, with subjects meant to distantly parade, if the donning and doffing of this costume did not shed viral capsid waiting to reanimate in a susceptible host, in domino
Underscored by the PSA for conscientious types: Who have you accidentally killed today?—A conscious occupation of marine Vibrio (Pseudomonasnatriegens, with a generation time of less than 10 minutes, the shortest to date (Eagon, 1962), and tagged with the virulence factors interconverting pyocyanin to 1-hydroxyphenazine (1-HP)—
Free-radical forming and aspirated from the reactive airway that cedes to the improbable admission of thousands of viruses in one drop of seawater—Notably absent from the fossil record, there, records the passage of plants as chalk, foretelling coal only by differences in pressure and overburden, and requiring an iron amendment for vines designated for champagne—
What is lacking in the waiting, and affecting lived experience, of Dilthey’s Erlebnis (1905) rendered to second-hand experience of machine replication according to Heidegger (1905), of Thackeray’s Amelia
Sedley Osbourne (1847-8)—Here, the ax head had fallen into the river Nahar, the personified body of the Canaanite Yam, Elisha, by taking a branch from a nearby tree a splint, of what Linnaeus overlooked, a species of Leonni’s Parallel Botany (1976), to reattach the floating iron and establish priority over the Jordan for their camp (2 Kings 6)—Built on the swoop and cambered edge of Ochsenkopf (1781), and into the subsidiary of a pro-growth multinational Gedore’s opening of Ferramentas do Brazil (1960) and the introduction of the Dremometer (1963), a precision tool for the twelve-cylinder engine of the newly formed impresa Automobili Lamborghini (1963)—The market herding in the Borsa, the Hadrianeum (145 C.E.) from Antonioni’s L’Eclisse (1962) features beyond the back and forth of Vittoria and Piero, she first leaves for her flat, the fossilized primrose in her library, and then after an awkward interlude in a narrow bed above the framed portraits of her parents—Recalls Little Gidding’s parched eviscerate soil (IV.2.65) clashing with Mina and the composer, Giovanni Fusco, the latter credited as Ammonio, the alchemical sal ammoniac that dissolves all metals, even lead, intoning the agonies of the Twist after the radioactive times they are in, to halt burying the roses in fire, if one atom at time, bearing
The contingent performance of speech act (parole) and common currency (langue) according to Saussure (1916)—

Benn and Matilda review the scenario on a red-eye home with their fuselage sustaining even more gamma ray bombardment at these ozone depleted latitudes—Vittoria marches back to Ricardo, despite the Saussurean oppositions, and the flight of the dominoes of domestic
Markets and abroad; partly, because she cannot bear to rejoin their number, fluorescing yellow as signage, as phenazine producing colonies, in late nights, at her age, careening into open taxis—He matches her bid and produces a catalog of trade secrets, the ultraviolet (UV) and electron beam (EB) curing of printed materials known and underutilized since the 1960s, impressing investors for their instant adhesion of the substrate, and meaning a variety of applications—Boswell’s reporting that men might opt for a passive Amelia; afraid of women knowing more than themselves, without referring to who is whom, they drink one glass of champagne for heart health, for resveratrol, picking up at their last topic from step aerobics—

"On May 18, 1953, Jacqueline Cochran became the first woman to fly faster than the speed of sound and, at the time of her death in 1980, she held more speed, altitude, and distance records than any other male or female pilot in aviation history. Included in these are the eight world speed, altitude and distance records she set in 1961 in the Northrop T-38 Talon now in the Museum's collection."

I had a dream about the death of my mother, who is very cavalier about her health, but at least she is not arthritic, limited and complaining. My brother and I were quarreling in the house about assets since they were the only things left. I awoke with the conclusion that the death of a mother is a terrible thing, but in my case, one can only cleave fully to another without interference. I thought of the Midlands and D.H. Lawrence, and Sons and Lovers (1911), which I have not read. I once thought it would be fruitful to read about the invisible chain of events between George and Cyril, for which the mother love is a ruse...Without the analyses, I would like to read it based on the merits of the novel itself.

The copy is on my bedside table, and I may drop in the reference when I revisit Master Georgie (1999).

I thought of my maternal grandmother just before her death, and gangly, and persisting with an unstageable sacral decubitus at 5'9'' and 79 lbs., that she looked like Ötzi, whose progenitor was a fictional matriarch named Katrine. I will read Sykes's The Seven Daughters of Eve (2002).

You rightly point out renditions of the themes, which do not arise incidentally.

I will also riff on Ugo Gattoni's design for Exercise 89, which I will also put here: "H" for "HH" from Nabokov's text. I revisited this in order to reimagine what would have happened if neither tidily died by the publication of the manuscript.

Excerpt from "Smart" Ganglion Cells by Richard Maslund (2018) with Eno's Textures (1989)

"We know something of what this cell is good for: it helps control the position of our eyes when we move. Think about what happens when you look out the side window of a moving train or car. The scene is flowing past, and if it were possible for you to hold your eyes still, the image would be blurred by the movement. In fact, you cannot by force of will prevent your eyes from following the moving scene; they drift backward, then jump forward again to meet the moving image. If you doubt this, have someone watch your eyes while you look out the side window of a moving care or train.

Your retina's directionally selective neurons are largely responsible for this reflex. If you hold your eyes still, the image of the object moves on your retina. The direction-selective neurons are activated: they tell the brain that the image is slipping, and which direction it is moving in. A nucleus in the brain receives that information and sends a precise message back out to the eye muscles, telling them how to contract to make the image stand still on the retina.

The importance of this is not mainly so we can ride in trains or cars. We have the same problem when we walk, and the motion is far more complicated. We walk—in effect, we bounce—from point to point. Our eyes must compensate for that exotic trajectory. Your directionally selective retinal ganglion cells help you compensate for these complexities by holding your gaze steady while you're walking (79)."

Here is a new-to-meet artist, who may make a contrast to Lethem's Girl in Landscape (2011), when I get around to it. Blaise Cendrars on Mars? I am getting the vintage volume No. 38.

I like Joni's total art of placing her artwork and lyrics in the gatefold album format. I particularly like the swerve in her bottom half into transience in album Wild Things Run Fast (1982), which features a riff on the blue light of the television and the Everly Brothers. "Chinese Café/Unchained Melody" was my first favorite of her catalog, which I first experienced on Hits (1996) that lingers, "one more tiiimmme."

Yes, Mumm's features in the first taste of The Woman Destroyed (1969). A bottle is chilled for the son who reports that he is abandoning his postgraduate work for unspecified cultural commerce.

I am also thinking at the same time that the late Charlie Watts, despite owning an exotic car collection, with suits to match, never had learned to drive.

Yes. I will read Sons and Lovers (1913).

The cryptochrome protein, which was identified in Arabinopsis, has a fourth photosystem in migratory birds for magnetoreception using quantum states of blue light. More on this.

"Magnetoreception of the light-dependent magnetic compass is suggested to be based on a radical-pair process which involves a light-induced electron transfer between two reaction partners, and thereby the creation of an excited-state radical pair which the magnetic field can act upon4,5,6,7,8. Assuming that such radical-pair-based magnetoreceptors are arranged in an ordered, spherical array, with different receptors aligned at different angles to the magnetic field, the animal would be able to perceive a sensory pattern centrally symmetric to the magnetic field lines4,9,10,11. It occurs to me that Bellow liked the wallpaper-for-the-crypt routine that he wrote it once in Augie March (1953), and again, in Some Die of Heartbreak (1987).

Judith Thurman suggests we should forget the adventurer, whose surname means "new house", but I read this review twice about Damrosch's distillation of the "Histoire" where Henriette inscribes her name on the window with a diamond Casanova has given her, "You will forget Henriette." This occurs to me that this would be the only viable answer to a philanderer, which neither of us are.

I enjoy December walks at night to see the lights. I pass a house with boxwood, and I always pluck a sprig of boxwood to split between my teeth for its astringency. Yes, boxwood contains steroid alkaloids, which are poisonous in large doses to humans.

Frequently, I love astrigent things like capers, from the Flinder's rose (Capparis spinosa).

Astringent taste preference has been correlated in the literature with sadistic traits (Sagogliou & Greitemeyer, 2016), but I am skeptical of a sample size less than a thousand (n = 953). Personality and gustation are both fields hazily self-reported over the lifespan.

Relying on anecdotal evidence, I am told that the feeding solution in my infancy was finally solved with Enfamil ProSoBee, which is iron fortified and lactose-free. Importantly, sales in the eighties skewed for Beatrix Potter on the label. Apparently, this study by Mennella & Beauchamp (2002) warrants further study since the soy-fed four and five-year-olds preferred bitter and astringent foods (in vegetables) versus milk-based formula infants, who preferred sweet tastes.

From the Introduction:

"When a Jew lives according to the dictates of the Torah, the Divine spark within him becomes a holy conflagration that illuminates every facet of his life all the way down to his behavior on either side of the grocery-store counter. There is no differentiation between 'religious' and 'secular' in Jewish life. [...]

But when a Jew allows this world to becloud his vision, when he sins once, twice, three times until he rationalizes his sin into a mitzvah, the spark within him loses its luster as it recedes behind layer and layer of material insulation. The Divine Presence becomes hidden not only from outsiders, but from the very bearer of the spark. As it recedes further and further, a person can reach the level where he can no longer respond to its holiness, where he can no longer recognize it, where his spark is so heavily insulated that its light cannot escape the deepest recesses of the heart [...]

The layers covering the spark are physical and material. Israel's idolatry was a rationalization for its lust (see above).
[...]
Our disputations might well sound like a random conversation about the always-shifting mores and fads of life. Instead, the piercing insight of the Sages reveals how much human rebellion against Torah—although defended with paper castles of intellectual fortification—is but another instance of an old malaise: Israel worship idols only to permit itself public immorality (Sanhedrin 63b) (xliv-xlv, 1978, 2010).

I will take up this conundrum again with Benn and Matilda with diamond hands and the ASCII unicode (1963,1986):

Yod (10). Ne pas y aller de main morte [plutôt des mains en diamant]

Arm or hand is yod (yod-vav-dalet), which has the same gematria (20) of chazah (chet-zayin-hei), which is vision, or more aptly, poetic vision, to behold.

"Mr Warzyczek recently studied several of these bizarre species in the Kwongan heathlands north of Perth, including the awled honeypot (Banksia subulata), for work published in the Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society.

Using a combination of camera- and live traps, he and his co-authors found the native noodji (ash-grey mouse or Pseudomys albocinereus) and invasive house mouse were primary pollinators of the rare banksia, which is only found in a small region centred around WA's Alexander Morrison National Park."

Matilda keeps a bottle of cherry flavored Milk of Magnesia in the bathroom cabinet. She tells Benn it is the only aphrodisiac needed, when taken in half doses with a full glass of warm water.

"The idea that magnesium (Mg) supplementation modifies the effect of chronic stress dates back to 1981 (Classen, 1981). This hypothesis is certainly feasible given the cation’s ubiquitous distribution and role throughout the body. Indeed, Mg is the fourth most abundant cation in the body and the second most abundant intracellular cation. It is involved in a wide variety of cellular processes including aerobic and anaerobic metabolism, all bioenergetic reactions, regulation of metabolic pathways, signal transduction, ion channels activity, cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, angio- genesis, and membrane stabilization (Nishizawa et al., 2007; Szewczyk et al., 2008; Turner and Vink 2007; Wolf et al., 2007). At a biochemical level, more than 325 enzymes are Mg dependent, many of which are nervous system enzymes, thus reflecting the important role potentially played by Mg in CNS physiological and pathological function (Eby and Eby, 2006)."

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK507250/

Magnesium is stored in the vacuoles of the chloroplasts for photosynthetic transformation. This paper describes yeast and fungal proteins that could be assimilated in plants terraformed on Martian soils, which are high in magnesium.
