Yes...and The Castle in the Forest is also on my reading list, too.

I anticipate Julian and Creation: A Novel in my near-distant reading career...as well as the material contained here, if just for fun:

The cringe associated with this recalled time is a signpost. I will never descend to that nadir of self-respect.

I will say that I am queasy contemplating about her nose here at all. I thought the refrain of unsaid fuck yous was sufficient.

I am reminded of this when I am reminded of her.

Elizabeth Finch (2022) is a slim tome, but I do not want to think about Julian the Apostate, like I thought about Gore Vidal, with her.

"With our expanded definition of Triangulating, cheating is Triangulation because your partner has allowed some other person, place, or thing to take precedence in their life—and especially over you.

What makes cheating so devastating is humans are meaning-making beings. We create meaning continuously at a subconscious & unconscious layer. Our experiences secretly tell us something about ourselves. Cheating robs shared meaning and turns it into nothing.

If most relationships are based on shared experiences, then cheating excludes a party to be left with feelings that are not real, and another party with secret 'real' meaning."

I would love to let you in my life, and plan a trip with you. To speak openly, and honestly.

I am interrupting this Saturday for a specific reason: to disavow Elizabeth Finch (2022). I love Julian Barnes's writing, but the elevation of atheism with aesthetic flavorings is wrong. I believe this is wrong to the depths of my being.

The recitation of the morning and evening Shema protects the 248 and 252 limbs of the male and female body respectively. The idea of "limbs" as understood by the Sages collapses with degenerate, biased rational analysis. The reproducibility crisis and the ever-expanding list on Retraction Watch should weaken one's assurance in academic infallibility. The languages of other nations best reflect their priorities, while Lashon HaKadesh approximates the most vital, spiritual Reality. It ideally should take an entire lifetime or lifetimes to understand.

When I pull back the sheet and look at someone's liquefied, black feet with the tendons bared, or the anoxic brain injury crying during tracheotomy suctioning, or the Superbowl XXXV Baltimore Raven linebacker with a mouth full of completely rotten teeth and critical pleural empyema, I observe the overwhelming evidence of extreme spiritual decline preceding physical dysfunction.

No matter how happy or proud these patients claim to be, their physical deterioration, and rapid decline tells a different story. I say that I do not judge anyone because it is too much work; in addition to caring for one's clinical needs, but I recommend self-reflection and perhaps vows not to repeat the behavior.

I do not say this in arrogant presumption over these people; and I have been unwell and physically altered in functioning, but I concluded in each instance that it was a wake-up call from my Creator. That spark of Consciousness can be smothered indefinitely. For those that acknowledge it, the Spark is always there.

"One who appreciates the seriousness of transgressing a Torah law - the devastating effects of such transgressions on one's soul, one's eternal life, and the world in general - surely feels more secure knowing that safety fences have been erected to make it more difficult for him to inadvertently transgress."
