Whenever we read Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, The Modern Prometheus I empathized most with a patchwork human struggling to make sense of Milton's Paradise Lost and Goethe's The Sorrows of Young Werther through a chink in an outhouse...and sympathizing with the devil. I think everyone hides a bit of sympathy for the devil, admitting it or not.
