L'acqua è [brulicante di squali].

Expository English for a [wo]man ? If the subject matter is assignedthen where is it possible to discern the gender of the writer in the spare argument here? No, you do not have to heave your intro text out again...

632

The Brain—is wider than the Sky
For—put them side by side
The one the other will contain
With ease—and You—beside
The Brain is deeper than the sea
For—hold them—Blue to Blue—
The one the other will absorb
As SpongesBuckets—do—
The Brain is just the weight of God
For—Heft them—Pound for Pound—
And they will differ—if they do—
As Syllable from Sound—

Via
Negativa or The Proof of God by Negation in Emily Dickinson's "632"

Emily Dickinson
never fails to pile controversy on top of controversy in the conception of her deceptively neatballad-metered poetryPoem "632" or "The Brainis wider than the Sky"is such case in point. She juxtaposes the brain as a physical reality and as the epicenter of abstract thoughtyet she overturns both of these notions. First, there is the "weight" (9) of the brain "[a]s SpongesBuckets[...]" (8), which she revisits in the universal act of when we "[h]eft them" (10). The possibilities of human thought are as boundless or as she asserts in her first line, "wider than the [s]ky (1). What is sensed as a localized entity, the mind inside the brainis actually much more diffuse at its visionary status--it is able to "contain / [w]ith ease" (3-4). The complement of the sky is the seathat other fluid beneath us, which is qualified as the receding, "Blue to Blue" (6). By extension, the sky, the seaare they contained in the mind or are they canvases created by it?
The final stanza concludes this far-reaching notion of human knowledge by situating it in a spiritual, if oddly doctrinaire, sense: "[t]he Brain is just the weight of God / ...Nor we so much as check our speech..." (9,11). Dickinson is treating the human mind like an assumption carried in our heads, but rarely consciously spoken of as a separate entity from what it filters and perceives. That being said, the concept of God is a given, and the religious demonstration that is so quickly discarded underscores this factPoem "632" first speaks in terms of the profoundity of the sky, the seawhich are terms appended to GodWhat God is not, is a personhood to be appeased by the performance of a ritualwhich humans fail to genuinely uphold in any case. Perhaps Dickinson concludes that the cultivated experience of Godlastlyis as individual as the aspirant (since they are equated to each other) in each of us.

Followed by a faintly allusive photograph of Mermaid's wineglass: The original is from BPotD.

Found object, les paroles, under the device of "Weeping Mandragora and Birthing Scorpions since 2003":

"Oh Marlène
C'est la haine qui nous a amené là
Mais Marlène
Dans tes veines coulent l'amour des soldats
Et quand il meurent ou s'endorment
C'est dans le creux de tes bras
Qu'ils s'abandonnent et qu'ils brûlent
Comme une clope entre tes doigts

...Et quand il meurent ou s'endorment
Dans la chaleur de tes bras
Ça les apaise et les traîne
Jusqu'en dehors des combats."

(Oh Marlène
It's hate that brought us here
But Marlène
In your veins runs the love of soldiers
When they die or fall asleep
It's in your arms
That they abandon themselves and burn
Like the cigarette between your fingers

... When they die or fall asleep
It's the warmth of your arms
That appeases them and drags them
Away from the battle)
---Noirs Désirs, 'Marlène'

I don't know where it belongs, so I put it here.

I slowly erase the other collaborator because I want to free myself of that influence because I could not feel or think without accommodating him. The contact that I want destroys friendship.

I am not stalling with Exercise 42; after moving so many things today, and dropping a old television down the stairs, my legs are numb. Shifting the detritus of many decades is liberating in the long-term, I know.

Not detritus, but I am conditioned to think that way, when most orchestrate a move with a plan, and a moving day. It has been exhausting, with random others, multiple floors to un/pack from the last move. End of complaint.

I am getting in here, and fixing the em dashes.

A storm wiped out my connectivity today. I am writing my note cards using the prep books, for Ebstein's tricuspid valve, cor pulmonale, Wolff-Parkinson-White...

Connected. I will do more, but I am doing ten ore more multiple choice questions in the test bank every night before bed.

I am pausing in this quest, not forever. When I renew my license in December, I will finish the modules for 35 CE. I will figure out what I am missing. The attempt scores went down each subsequent attempt. I can take demoralization as instructive, but I have many resources, and I need to use them on the best way.
